Cashew butter is made from ground cashews and is a natural sweet spread with a creamy texture. It can be used, as an option for peanut butter. It supplies vitamins and minerals with healthy proteins and fats.
Components 1 tablespoon of butter from cashew weighs about 16 g. Out of that 8 g is fat, 2.8 g is proteins and 4.4 g is carbohydrates. The remaining is water and other nutrients.
Vitamins and Minerals Butter made from cashew supplies all the B vitamins that are necessary for the red blood corpuscles and metabolism. It is also a supplier of thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, folate, panthothenic acid, vitamin K and vitamin E. Minerals per tablespoon include:
41.3 mg Magnesium, which is vital for the health of the bones
0.8 mg – Iron
0.4mg – copper
Small amount of phosphorus, potassium, calcium, zinc, selenium and manganese are also present in the butter, which helps in the functions of the nervous system, maintains strong bones, muscles and joints and also strengthens the immunity system.
Proteins and carbohydrates Cashew butter gives 3g of protein per tablespoon. This butter is low in carbohydrates having just 4 g/tbsp. People who are following the low-carb diet can naturally limit their carb intake between 50g to 150g everyday. This butter will not make any difference to your carb limitations.
Fats Butter made from cashew contains 8 g/tbsp of fat with only 2 g being the unhealthy saturated kind, whereas the dairy butter contains 11 g/tbsp of fat with just 7 g of saturated fat. It is recommended by the American Heart Association to replace the saturated fat with unsaturated fat, so that you can regulate your cholesterol. Therefore, consider using cashew butter, which is a better option to butter your bread, toast, muffins or pancakes.
Peanut Allergies If you are sensitive to peanuts, which is a legume then you can switch on to cashews as they are tree nuts. You can enjoy butter made from cashew without any reaction. You can use the butter made from cashew, as a substitute instead of peanut butter in salad dressings, sandwiches, peanut butter cookies or bars.
Uses of butter made from cashew:
Butter prepared from cashew is generally sold raw and needs refrigeration once the packing is opened to avoid from getting rancid. Cashew is sweet so the cashew butter does not require any sugar to be added and is a better option than the sweetened peanut butter. You can use it in place of peanut butter used for making peanut sauce or cookies. Adding it to a smoothie prepared with frozen soy milk and bananas will serve everyone with a delicious soft ice-cream.
