If the worse happens, and you miss your flight there is no reason to panic. This happens hundreds of thousands of times a day.

Firstly, remember to make sure that the next time that you’re taking flights from Chicago to Oranjestad that you get to the airport on time. But when something out of your control happens, say your bus or trains to the airport is severely delayed, you should first go the information desk for your airline. Airlines should always have information desks dedicated to them. If not, go to the main airport information desk, and ask what you should do. You’ll need to have your flight information and passport ready to show them. If you don’t have any of this information then you may not be able to make your flights from Norfolk to Los Angeles. When at the information desk try to stay calm. Nothing makes airlines representative more unlikely to help you than if you’re rude and start getting angry about the reasons that you missed your flights. The person you’re talking to is the person standing between you and your flights from Miami to Athens, so be as nice as possible. Be honest with them about the reason you missed your flight. If you’re kind, and if they’re a dependable airline, then they’ll likely offer to put you on the next available flight. Sometimes there is a charge if it’s an especially busy route, but more often it will be free. If the flight is not free then you can often be refunded the money from your travel insurance which usually includes an amount that covers any missed flights. Bear in mind though that this insurance does not protect you if you got up too late, only if there is something out of your control that has happened.
